Join  mindfulness teacher and author JoAnn Saccato, MA for this 8 week course centered on mindfulness, compassion and intentional living. Committed participants work in a safe and courageous space learning the framework of a self-compassionate practice that includes journaling;  mindfulness of body, mind and emotions; and exploring, clarifying and setting powerful intentions. You'll learn how to:

  • Create a "compassionate container" to create safety for deeper exploration and self-companionship.
  • Establish a steady, meaningful-to-you daily practice through journaling, mindfulness, compassion and conscious intentions.
  • Clarify intentions and desires.
  • Discover and break through common barriers that keep you from the practice and life you desire.
  • Interrupt habitual patterns and live life from more choice.
  • Deepen connection with inner resources.
  • Increase your inner capacity for ease, intimacy, resiliency, freedom and joy.

Course Summary:

Each week, participants experience a two hour session that includes a presentation of the cornerstones of practice, a group check in and Q&A session. The students are given weekly assignments and should set aside 20-45** minutes per day for course homework and personal practice.

The eight sessions include:


  1. Creating Our Container: Introduction to course, concepts, course participants and strategies for success. Inquiry into barriers and challenges to a daily practice.
  2. Journaling as Companion: Exploring journaling as a practice to: create safety; create a place to explore and clarify values and desires; find the best path for our personal journey: and reflect on our journey. Introduction to Qi (Chi or Prana).
  3. Collecting Our Attention:  Begin mindfulness practices including breath awareness and energetic body work with simple Qi Gong practices.
  4. Setting Intention and Affirming Our Path: Exploration of creationary forces, intentions, expectations and affirmations. Introduction to compassion and loving kindness practices.
  5. Coming to Our Senses: Bringing mindfulness to our sensory perceptions. Working with difficult or painful sensations. Introduction of standing and walking practices.
  6. Mindfulness of Thoughts: Bringing loving awareness to the thinking mind. How to work with persistent and difficult thoughts. Introduction of gentle yoga for mindfulness.
  7. Mindfulness of Emotion: Compassionately embracing our emotional self and journey with mindfulness practices.  The 10 mindful movements.
  8. Companioning Forward: Tools and strategies for maintaining a steady practice beyond the course. Mindfulness of eating.

**NOTE: Most people find that even with a very busy schedule they have plenty of time for personal practice and then some!
